The Position: M.K. Ince and Associates Ltd. (MKI) is searching to fill
the full time position of Junior Biologist. The position reports to the Senior Biologist and works closely with environmental assessment officers and other MKI engineering and support staff. We would prefer to fill the position of bird biologist as soon as possible, but there is some flexibility with the starting date.

M.K. Ince and Associates Ltd. is a consulting firm exclusively involved in wind power development with projects from British Colombia to the Maritime Provinces, the majority of which are in Ontario. MKI undertakes extensive environmental studies in support of wind farm development. An important component of the environmental studies is associated assessment of impacts of wind farms on birds and bats.
Currently, MKI employs just over a dozen people from its head office in Dundas and is in need of junior biologist to meet its growing number of projects. MKI has a unique and creative work environment requiring a motivated and enthusiastic individual to complete wind industry projects

Requirements:
- Good understanding of bird biology and bird distribution, especially within Ontario
- A basic working knowledge of GIS, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, etc.
- An understanding of species at risk and basic bird conservation principles
- An ability to conduct bird and bat field work under a variety of weather and logistical challenges
- An ability to compile and analyze data and write scientific reports
- Good oral and written communication skills
These skill sets are generally associated with a university degree in biology, or a related discipline, and either a graduate degree or several years of relative experience. Applicants with other backgrounds and experience, however, may also be considered.
Preferred Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with the wind industry and Ontario environmental and municipal laws and regulations as they pertain to wind energy development
- Self-starter, flexible, team player, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision
- Leadership qualities, experience in field techniques, data interpretation and report writing
- Sincere personal commitment to sustainable economic and environmental development
