“The writing center is a place to talk through a piece of writing, be it for class, or a personal piece. Writing is a way of sharing one’s way of thinking and feeling, and at the writing center we encourage people to define their voice. We do not just edit papers and correct grammar mistakes we talk about themes and concepts and help people to state their ideas succinctly and uniquely. As one of the writing center mentors, I find that usually I help people most by talking about their ideas with them and setting up future steps for their writing. I want to encourage people to have confidence in their writing, because we each have a distinct voice to share.” ~Savanna Sklar
