Every week, faculty at Sterling get together in the upper northeast corner of Mager Hall in the Trustees Room for Faculty Meeting. This is always more than just a meeting—sure we have an agenda and important business to tackle—but much more than that, I think we all deeply appreciate the time we spend in the first few moments catching up with one another about the week’s happenings. Our Dean, Carol Dickson, has even remarked that the first few informal minutes of the meeting are sometimes the most fertile in which great ideas can take root.

I look forward to these meetings each week—as a time when we can take at least a brief hiatus from the quotidian work of the College, take a breath, and reground ourselves in our community of colleagues and prepare for the week ahead.
