Born in Hana, Maui but raised on an organic farm near Lake Willoughby in Westmore, Amalia has always felt a connection to the outdoors. Some of her earliest memories include weeding the garden along side her brother and sister, moving the turkey pens and helping collect the sheep that seemed to ignore the miles of fencing her parents worked so hard to keep secure. These practices instilled an appreciation for hard work and seeing the many rewards that it offers. While Amalia did not continue to farm throughout her life she values and admires its presence in her community and celebrates its continued growth. Now as a mother and wife her greatest joy is spending time with her family and teaching her son about the importance of said hard work and encouraging his growth as a loving and supportive member of his community and peer group.

Amalia loves walking and hiking with her dogs and family. She is always up for sitting, walking, running on a beach, anywhere, in any weather condition. And can generally be identified from a distance by her laugh.
